I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. We had a lovely time. Small gathering. Just five of us.
Scott had turkey duty. I dove into everything else because I had a strong desire to make things. I really haven’t fired up our stove much lately. So I needed an outlet. Fruited stuffing. Sweet potato casserole. Wheat rolls. And my favorite of all: Pumpkin pie cake!
Even though the gathering was small, cleaning our house is always a huge production. We’re able to keep up with the daily stuff well enough. You know, the dishes, the laundry, a bit of sweeping here and there, scooping the cat box, taking out the garbage. Beyond that, well, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Or enough motivation in our department. Who can tell?
If you were to stop by unexpectedly, you would encounter an armada of dust bunnies in each corner, an avalanche of paperwork on the desk in our dining room, a countertop crammed with miscellany. When visitors come, we go to great pains to get all of that in order. A flurry of dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and orgnanizing.
Yet where was I two hours before my mom arrived? In my bedroom dusting. I have no idea what possesses me, but I have an odd compulsion to clean in the nooks and crannies when I should be vacuuming the dog hair off of the couch, which is front and center for all to see. At least the bedrooms are pretty tidy now.
And now…more ornaments!

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Smiths!! So are you going to share that pumpkin pie cake recipe or just torment us…………….
