I used the boy to show the perspective
I ambled out to my garden tonight to give it a once over. I’d pulled two zucchinis out in the past week, and there were some tomatoes, cukes and peppers emerging. I’d been out just two or three days ago, so I figured I might find another zucchini and maybe a reddish tomato.
Um. How did this happen? In just a couple of days?
I just stood there laughing when I saw it. How could I not? It’s hysterical. I mean, what do you do with a zucchini of this stature? Other than pose your poor kid next to it to show its massiveness?
As I headed back inside, eager to tell the guys what I’d discovered, I stopped for a quick over-the-fence chat with my neighbor. He was outside grilling and agreeing that I’d grown the most impressive zucchini ever when a squirrel fell out of his tree and landed on the ground behind him. Seriously. KER-PLUNK! Fluffy squirrel, accompanied by several leaves, landed on his ass, spotted Chloe the yellow lab, and scampered crazily over the fence. In just a few seconds’ time. Startling Dave in the process.
By the time I made it downstairs, I was laughing uncontrollably. Sometimes I just need moments like that to keep me sane.
wow. one of those, stuffed, would feed a whole family! don’t you have a state fair you can enter it into? 🙂
and imagine a squirrel losing his grip: a dizzy spell, maybe?
Zucchini is my faaave vegetable. Good going!
