I can not resist the belly button

It makes me smile, which balances out my day a bit.

My friend returned from Kenya this weekend. I’d been worried when I heard the news reports. Still, I thought, what’s the likelihood he’s in the thick of it all?

Never challenge the odds.

Kip is back and safe. But he almost wasn’t. It’s a bit surreal how those news reports can suddenly be sitting across from you in a chair in your office.

His experiences just amaze me. I’m completely in awe of the way he handled them. The presence of mind he had, the risks he took, the magical way some things just seemed to fall into place.

My brave friend is back in boring old Michigan. Right where he belongs.

  1. I’m so glad your friend made it home safe Lori. My sister-in-law grew up in Kenya and her whole family (dad & siblings) are still there. I talked to her yesterday and she says they are all safe but her sister works in Nairobi and isn’t able to get to work because of the violence. It’s so hard to imagine living and working in that kind of environment when you just don’t know what is going to happen from day to day. Khamala saw this coming long ago though…she said with the elections there would probably be some problems. Like I said, I’m so happy your friend made it home but there are so many there that need our prayers and thoughts.
